Main
  • 2 cups fresh blackberries
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups vodka
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract optional

Equipment

  • Large glass jar or container with a lid

  • Measuring cups and spoons

Method

  1. Start by washing your blackberries thoroughly to remove any dirt or pesticides.
  2. In a large glass jar, add the washed blackberries and use a muddler or fork to mash them to release their juices.
  3. Pour the granulated sugar over the mashed blackberries to create a syrup.
  4. Add the vodka to the jar, covering the blackberries completely.
  5. Add the water and vanilla extract to the mixture.
  6. Seal the jar tightly and shake well to mix all ingredients.
  7. Store the jar in a cool, dark place for about three weeks, shaking gently every few days.
  8. After three weeks, strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a clean bottle.
