Ingredients
  

Main
  • Gin preferably London Dry style: 0.75 ounce
  • Green Chartreuse: 0.75 ounce
  • Sweet vermouth: 0.75 ounce
  • Orange bitters: 2 dashes
  • Fresh ice cubes for stirring
  • Lemon twist or cherry optional garnish

Equipment

  • Mixing glass or cocktail mixing pitcher
  • Bar spoon or long-handled spoon
  • Jigger (1 oz and 0.5 oz marks)
  • Cocktail strainer
  • Coupe glass or cocktail glass
  • Ice (large cubes for stirring)

Method
 

  1. Fill your mixing glass with a generous handful of fresh ice cubes.
  2. Using a jigger, measure and pour 0.75 ounce of gin into the ice-filled mixing glass.
  3. Measure and add 0.75 ounce of green Chartreuse to the glass.
  4. Measure and pour 0.75 ounce of sweet vermouth into the glass.
  5. Add exactly 2 dashes of orange bitters to the glass.
  6. Stir gently with a bar spoon for about 30 seconds to chill and dilute slightly.
  7. Strain the chilled liquid into a coupe glass using a cocktail strainer.
  8. Express a lemon twist over the drink or add a cherry, then serve immediately while cold.

Notes

Chill your coupe glass in the freezer for 5 minutes before pouring to keep the drink cold longer.
