  • 1 cup packed fresh basil leaves
  • 2 cups water
  • Honey or sweetener to taste optional
  • Lemon slice for garnish optional

Method
 

  1. Rinse the fresh basil leaves under cold water to remove any dirt.
  2. In a teapot or saucepan, bring the water to a gentle boil.
  3. Add the basil leaves directly into the boiling water.
  4. Cover the pot and let steep for about 5 minutes.
  5. Use a strainer or tea infuser to pour the tea into your cup.
  6. Add honey or your preferred sweetener if desired.
  7. Garnish with a lemon slice and serve.

Notes

For a refreshing twist, try chilling the basil tea and serving it over ice.
