Ingredients

Main
  • 1 frozen banana peeled and sliced before freezing
  • 1 cup milk dairy or plant-based like almond, oat, or coconut
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • Optional: 1 tablespoon almond butter or peanut butter for richness

Equipment

  • High-powered blender
  • Measuring cups
  • Measuring spoons
  • Tall glass
  • Spoon (optional)

Method

  1. Peel the banana and slice into one-inch rounds, then freeze on a parchment-lined tray until completely frozen.
  2. Measure 1 cup of milk and set aside.
  3. Add the milk to the blender first to prevent the frozen banana from sticking.
  4. Place the frozen banana slices on top of the milk in the blender.
  5. Drizzle 1 tablespoon of honey or maple syrup over the banana.
  6. Add 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract and a pinch of salt to the blender.
  7. Secure the blender lid and blend on high speed for 45 to 60 seconds, until smooth and creamy.
  8. Check the consistency and adjust by adding a splash of milk if it’s too thick or another frozen banana slice if it’s too thin.
  9. Pour the smoothie into a tall glass and serve immediately while cold and thick.

Notes

Pro Tip: Always peel and slice banana before freezing and store slices in a freezer bag for quick smoothie prep whenever you need it.
