Ingredients

Main
  • 1 ripe banana peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup whole milk or milk of choice
  • 2 shots espresso or 1/2 cup strong brewed coffee
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon optional
  • Pinch sea salt

Equipment

  • Blender or immersion blender
  • Espresso machine or coffee maker
  • Milk frother or whisk
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • 8 oz to 12 oz coffee mug or glass
  • Knife for slicing banana

Method

  1. Peel a ripe banana and slice it into roughly 1-inch pieces.
  2. Pour 1 cup of milk into the blender with the banana slices.
  3. Add 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract and a pinch of sea salt to the blender.
  4. Blend on high speed for 45 to 60 seconds until completely smooth and pourable.
  5. Pull two shots of fresh espresso (or brew 1/2 cup strong coffee).
  6. Pour the banana mixture into a small saucepan and heat over medium for 1 to 2 minutes until steaming but not boiling.
  7. Pour the hot espresso into your serving mug, then slowly pour in the hot banana milk mixture while stirring gently.
  8. Dust the top with a sprinkle of cinnamon if desired and serve immediately.

Notes

Serve immediately while hot to enjoy the creamiest texture; leftover banana milk can be stored separately for up to 24 hours.
