Ingredients

Main
  • 1 ripe banana sliced (about 100 grams)
  • 3/4 cup brewed coffee cooled to room temperature or chilled
  • 1/2 cup whole milk dairy or non-dairy
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup optional
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract optional
  • Pinch of salt

Equipment

  • Blender or immersion blender
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Tall glass or mug
  • Spoon for stirring
  • Knife for slicing banana

Method

  1. Brew 3/4 cup of strong coffee using your preferred method and allow it to cool to room temperature, about 5 minutes.
  2. Peel and slice the ripe banana into half-inch thick chunks.
  3. Add the cooled coffee, banana slices, milk, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt into the blender.
  4. Taste the mixture and add honey or maple syrup if additional sweetness is desired.
  5. Blend on high speed for 45 to 60 seconds until the drink is completely smooth and creamy.
  6. Optionally, strain the blended mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a serving glass for an ultra-smooth texture.
  7. Pour the banana coffee into a tall glass, adding ice cubes if you prefer it chilled.
  8. Serve immediately and enjoy while fresh for the best flavor and texture.

Notes

Best enjoyed immediately. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours, shaking before serving.
