Method
- Fill a tall glass with 1 cup of ice cubes, packing them in firmly so they don't melt too quickly and dilute your drink.
- Measure out 1.5 ounces of fresh lime juice and pour directly over the ice in your glass.
- Pour 0.75 ounces of simple syrup into the glass over the lime juice and ice.
- Add 1 ounce of pineapple juice to introduce the tropical fruit element.
- Pour 2 ounces of Mountain Dew directly into the glass, bringing the signature soda flavor and additional carbonation.
- Fill the remaining space in your glass with 3 ounces of club soda or sparkling water.
- Drop 2 to 3 drops of green food coloring into the drink and stir gently to distribute evenly.
- Stir the drink well with a bar spoon or long spoon, making sure all ingredients blend together smoothly. Take a sip and adjust the lime juice or syrup if needed.
- Place a fresh lime wheel on the rim or drop it into the drink for visual appeal. Serve immediately while the drink is at peak carbonation and temperature.
Notes
Make a large batch by multiplying all ingredients by 8, mixing everything in a pitcher, and letting it chill in the fridge until serving time. The drink stays fresh for up to two days. Use cold ingredients straight from the refrigerator to avoid diluting the drink. Stir gently after adding club soda to preserve carbonation. Add a splash of coconut rum or vodka for an adult version.
