A potent mix of rum, vodka, gin, tequila, and blue curaçao that balances five different spirits with citrus and tropical flavors. This impressive cocktail comes together in about two minutes and tastes surprisingly smooth despite its strength.

Ingredients

Main
  • 1/2 ounce white rum
  • 1/2 ounce vodka
  • 1/2 ounce gin
  • 1/2 ounce tequila
  • 1/2 ounce blue curaçao
  • 3/4 ounce fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 ounce simple syrup
  • 2 ounces lemon-lime soda Sprite or 7-Up
  • Ice cubes as needed
  • 1 lime wheel for garnish

Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker or mason jar with a lid
  • Jigger or measuring shot glass
  • Strainer (bar strainer or fine mesh)
  • Highball or rocks glass
  • Bar spoon or long spoon for stirring
  • Citrus juicer or hand squeezer
  • Cutting board and knife for lime

Method

  1. Set up your jigger and line up your rum, vodka, gin, tequila, and blue curaçao in order. Measure each spirit separately to avoid pouring too much of any one bottle.
  2. Cut a fresh lime in half and juice it by hand or with a citrus juicer until you have at least 3/4 ounce of fresh juice.
  3. Add a generous amount of ice cubes to your cocktail shaker or mason jar, filling it about halfway.
  4. Add the rum, vodka, gin, tequila, and blue curaçao to the shaker in any order.
  5. Pour in the fresh lime juice and simple syrup, making sure both are measured accurately.
  6. Cover your shaker tightly and shake hard for about 10 to 12 seconds, until the outside gets frosty and cold.
  7. Fill a highball or rocks glass with fresh ice cubes, packing them in tightly.
  8. Strain the shaker contents into your prepared glass using a bar strainer, pouring slowly and steadily.
  9. Pour about 2 ounces of lemon-lime soda gently over the top of the drink, stirring once or twice to combine.
  10. Place a lime wheel on the rim or drop it into the drink as a garnish. Serve immediately and enjoy while cold.

Notes

Always use fresh lime juice, never bottled. Chill your glass before pouring for longer-lasting cold temperature. Don't skip the simple syrup as it provides essential sweetness and texture that soda can't replicate. For parties, make this drink in a batch by multiplying all ingredients by the number of servings, shaking in a large container, then pouring over ice into individual glasses and topping with soda at the last moment.
